What are you getting into?
Follow the 10 step process
below for
optimal performance, and efficiency of your new investment.
(Or call and we will find someone to help,
or install the furnace for you.)
Upon delivery of your furnace you will receive an owners
manual that describes this procedure as well as a phone
number to
call should the need for assistance arise. The assistance
line is available 7 days per week to assist you in anyway
possible
by phone.
Step 1- Find a location
that is close to your existing furnace, that will
accommodate making a 22 inch wide by 10 inch tall
opening in the home. (Window, Door, Block wall, Stud Wall,
Trailer Skirting, Concrete slab wall etc.)
Step 2- Layout the
opening to be cut and measure twice to insure the proper
placement.
Step 3- Make the cut as
precise as possible to avoid making unnecessary repairs
later, using the proper tools. (Reciprocating Saw, Drill,
Concrete Saw, Chain Drill, etc.) All which can be rented
from a local rental store for very little expense.
Step 4-(Optional)
Install the factory made thimble with the 8 inch receiving
collars over the opening and attach with screws,
nails, or adhesive of choice.
Step 5- Attach the first
section of 8 inch pipe (usually a universal elbow) to the
heat supply line located on the top right
corner on the rear of the unit. Continue attaching 8 inch
straight pipe until you have reached the interior of the
home. (Or attach to
the factory made thimble.)
Step 6- Following the
same instructions as Step 5 attach the cold air return duct
(flex or metal) to the unit and through the opening. (Or to
the factory made thimble)
The following 4 steps are 1 of the installation options.
Your particular install may require a different type.
Step 7- Find the trunk
line of your existing duct work. Usually the largest duct
run in your system where the air from your
existing furnace or air handler send air to the house.
Step 8- Install a
pre-purchased 45 degree 8 inch round to 12x4 square reducer
into the trunk line in a way that air from the existing
furnace can not be blown back outside to the outdoor
furnace. Do so by cutting an opening in the sheet metal the
exact size as the
reducer. Fold the metal tabs back and screw to the trunk
duct.
Step 9- Find your
existing cold air return line or a fresh clean area, to draw
air from the house to the outdoor furnace. You may need to
do the same as you did in Step 8 when you installed the
supply line reducer.
Step 10- Design and
install the 8 inch metal duct to reach from your trunk to
the heat supply entry hole you installed in Step 5.
And design and install the flex duct to run from the
existing cold air return to the cold air return entry hole
you installed in Step 6. This is
the point you would install the lines to factory made
thimble inside the home. (If you purchased one for delivery)
This is a basic installation, you should always consult our
service or sales department to ask questions, or find a
supplier of the
parts needed to complete the installation safely, easily,
and efficiently.
REMEMBER- Never hook the
furnace to the duct work until the unit has been burned for
at least 4 hours, to ensure proper burn off
of oil and other materials that are used in manufacturing
your new Wadena Furnace.
WE CAN FIND AN INSTALLER FOR YOU IF YOU ARE NOT COMFORTABLE WITH DOING IT YOURSELF.
